Sitting in the Aisle

It's kinda like getting an e-mail from John about what movie he just saw, well, kinda, sorta.

The Illusionist (Film)

A carefully measured and calculated film with fine performances accompanied by a memorable musical score. Though at times it seems passion is lacking from the characters and storytelling, you do catch the occasional glimpse bubbling underneath the surface. I only wished the magical feats done in the film were done for real, instead of being obvious CGI. The sense of realism would have been a neater trick.

I thought the movie was well done, nothing too spectacular. I agree with your comment regarding the magic tricks, it would have been better if they were real. I also thought that Paul Giamatti overacted in the movie, which was a little distracting. I don't really like him as an actor. The only good movie he was in was Sideways.
