Akeelah and the Bee (Film)
A well polished telling of the classic underdog story. Does Akeelah win the spelling bee? Is there any doubt? Heartwarming, if not a tad manipulative. I was the only one in the theater when I saw it Sunday night at 9:40 pm. Don't think this film will do well in the theaters, but it's popularity will grow on DVD.

did you like being the only person in the theater? i was the only person watching 'enron - smartest guys in the room' last year and really enjoyed the experience as well as the movie (but it takes a few minutes to get used to the idea that you are really alone in the theater). all in all, i would do it more often if i could, but part of the fun is you don't know if there will be anyone else there at an off time or if anyone will walk in at the last minute. like you, i went to a late show on a sunday night.
I actually was with someone else, but having us be the only ones in the theater was nice. it's like having your own personal screening room. For a moment, I, too, was a big time hot shot hollywood player. But. One of the reasons I like going to the movies is the communal experience, seeing and sharing the moment with others. Not to have that I think, ultimitely takes away from the whole movie going experience.
